The extended Valentine’s Day weekend, combined with Monday’s President’s Day holiday, will mean plenty of time to snuggle with your significant other across the East and Midwest. California, the Southwest and Florida, pleasant days and cool nights make it ideal for a romantic walk in a park.
A major arctic blast setting across Midwest and Northeast on Friday will linger through Valentine’s Day. Whether you want to head to Love, Va., or Heart Lake, Pa., pack plenty of winter gear, or just stay inside by a roaring fireplace. All of these Valentine’s Day locations will have sub-freezing highs, with many places in the Upper Midwest, including Valentine, Minn., and Cupid, Iowa, struggling to climb above zero.
All is not lost for lovebirds. A stroll through Rose, Oklahoma, Saturday will be pleasant as the bright mid-February sun sends temperatures into the middle 50s. Even better, a romantic waltz through Bouquet Canyon, Calif., won’t require a jacket as afternoon temperatures jump into the low 80s.
Finally, if you really need something… err someplace special to take that special someone, Diamond on St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands is within reach of white-sanded Caribbean beaches. Take plenty of sunscreen so your skin doesn’t turn the color of a candy heart; plenty of sunshine will push temperatures into the mid-80s.
