Bitter Cold Weather Hits Utah

Gusts approaching hurricane force intensity, brutal winter winds and bitter cold temperatures are plunging Utah into a deep freeze. Just a day after a snowstorm blanketed central Utah with 1 to 2 feet of snow, today’s weather is sending residents indoors, knocking out power, and overturning tractor-trailers on the highways.

Our WeatherBug Weather Stations reported near hurricane-force gusts this morning from the east side of Salt Lake City to Ogden:
– WeatherBug at Lagoon Park in Farmington: 72 mph gust at 7:10 a.m. MST
– WeatherBug at Taylor Canyon Elementary in Ogden: 67 mph gust at 4:59 a.m. MST
– WeatherBug at Stewart Elementary in Centerville: 66 mph gust at 7:00 a.m. MST

Our TV partner in Salt Lake City, KUTV, reported on the bitter temperatures and incredible wind gusts this morning:

The average temperature for Salt Lake City in December is a comparatively balmy 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

Stay Warm Utah!
