Sao Paulo, Brazil – What the Hail?

A storm left the streets of Brazil’s largest city coated in white, marble-sized hail! The storm, which brought 0.4 inch of moisture, broke a dry spell that caused historically low levels to Sao Paulo’s water supply.

The rare hailstorm started pelting the sub-tropical city Sunday and left behind a thick white layer that resembled snow in some areas. Although the amount of hail dropped on Sao Paulo was unusual, the city regularly experiences hail in thunderstorms.

Snow, however, has not been seen in Sao Paulo since at least the 1970s or 1918 — depending on the source. Check out these amazing photos from Sao Paulo:
