On April 27, twenty-two year old college senior at the University of Central Arkansas, Jeffrey Hunter, knew that a tornado was rapidly closing in on his house in Vilonia, Arkansas. Minutes before the massive EF-4 tornado destroyed his home, he sent a series of text messages to his mother, Regina Wood, that tragically ended up being his final goodbye.
‘First he said “Mama, I’m so scared,“‘ Wood told nwahomepage.com. She tried to calm her son, who was hiding in the bathroom, telling him he would be okay.

Jeffrey was with his father and stepmother when the tornado hit. They are in critical condition. At least seven others in Vilonia were killed by this twister.
“Jeff, now your the brightest star in the sky, and a warm breeze on a sweet summer day. You’ve earned your wings my gentle son we will be together again. Everyone’s heart hurts but I believe the healing will begin,” his mother posted on Facebook on Sunday.
Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by these recent tornadoes.
