A triple threat of severe thunderstorms, blizzard conditions, and flooding rain will ravage the Midwest and Mississippi Valley today, with lingering stormy weather heading toward the East Coast on Friday.
•A Tornado Watch has been issued for the Lower Ohio and Lower Mississippi valleys, including the cities of Tupelo, Miss., Memphis, Tenn., Cape Girardeau, Mo., Paducah, Ky., and Evansville, Ind.
•Severe Thunderstorm Watches have also been issued for parts of the Lower and Mid-Mississippi Valley, including places like St. Louis, Springfield, Illl., Lufkin, Texas, Alexandria, La., Greenwood, Miss., and Pine Bluff, Ark.
•Flood Watches have been posted across parts of the Ohio Valley and into western New York.
•Blizzard Warnings are in effect across central Iowa and southern Minnesota, with Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories posted from Kansas to Michigan.
•High Wind Warnings and Wind Advisories stretch from eastern Texas to the Ohio Valley, then westward through most of the Plains.
This system will quickly move out the central U.S. early Friday, bringing rain and thunderstorms to the East Coast and Northeast, with a chance of damaging thunderstorms across the Southeast on Friday morning.
